Wire of a specified length is fed and cut. The wire is put into a narrow hole in the cutting tool composed of two parts, and sheared at the parting face of the tool. This method minimizes the deformation of the cut surface.

- A type of straight cutting process, which is applied when perpendicularity of the end faces to the lead is required.
